Shave for the Brave 2017 - Shave for the Brave 2017
Welcome to Evan Byrne's page

Hello everyone. Welcome back for year 4!

For those that don't know me, my name is Evan and I am 8 years old. This will be my 4th shave. I did my first one when I was in Kindergarten. I didn't know much about cancer, and I still don't. What I do know is that it makes people sad. I hate cancer, but I love knowing that shaving my head can make a difference for people.

My mom recently asked me if I wanted to shave my head this year. I thought that was a silly question. I said when I was 5 that I would do it every year. Not too many 5 year olds make a commitment like that and mean it, but I did. My mom asked me tonight why I still choose to shave my head every year. The answer is simple, "to help find a cure for cancer".

So far I have raised over $900 for  young adult cancer Canada (YACC). I have received private messages from people directly affected by cancer, and met the coordinator of YACC. Each year I feel happy to shave my head because so many people are proud of me and tell me what a great thing it is for me to do.

Here are my previous totals:
2014 $271.00
2015 $365.00
2016 $285.00
2017*** GOAL $400.00!***

This year I'm hoping to earn $400 for YACC! I'm excited to pass $1000 in total donations!

My shave is scheduled for March 25th at the Avalon Mall. Please help me to reach my goal so I can continue to make a difference in the lives of young adults with cancer.
