This cause is so important to me. Almost 7,000 young adults are diagnosed with cancer every year in Canada, that’s about 19/day.
Above is a photo of my Dad, Randolph Young. Lost him to brain cancer at age 56 (age I am now). Six feet tall and full of fun, he was the life of every party. He met Mom when he was 15 and there was never anyone else. As is typical of those from Upper Island Cove (and boy did he love that place....lol), he had a wicked sense of humour, could spin a yarn like no other and was as musical as could be. He trod his own path. Upon completing high school, he next graduated from the animal husbandry program at Nova Scotia Tech, then became a pharmacist, then a dentist and finally a certified outboard marine mechanic. His knowledge of all things sports related was legendary. So to honour his memory and hopefully to help some young people dealing with this terrible disease called cancer, I will be participating in this year's Shave for the Brave on Saturday, March 4th. He would so love this! Hope to count on your support! My online account will be set up today and no donation is too small! You'll get to see me bald!!!!! Love to you all! And thank you!
All donations to the Shave for the Brave help Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) provide programs to help this "forgotten generation."
