Hi, my name is Mira Eaton, I am 10 years old and this is my 3rd time doing shave for the brave! Shave for the Brave is very important to me because when I shave my head I know that I am helping someone with cancer and that really means a lot to me.
When my dad was 22 years old he was diagnosed with leukemia. After a while he got better but then when he was 25 it came back so he had to go through all that trouble again, all the surgery’s, all the medicine and not being able to do very much and when I think of that I feel really lucky, but then I remember that over 8000 young adults a year aren’t as lucky and that they are going through exactly what my dad went through.
When anyone asks me why I want to shave my head I tell them that my hair will grow back but lots of people with cancer have no choice whether they lose their hair or not. When I do Shave for the Brave it makes me feel great to know that I’m helping young adults with cancer! That is why I want to do Shave for the Brave again this year!
